Streaming Media Europe 2011 (17, 18 & 19 October, London) announces its advance programme this week with Keynotes from Oliver Heckmann, Engineering Director at YouTube; Ian Mecklenburgh, Director of Consumer Platforms & Devices at Virgin Media; and Richard Cooper, Controller of Digital Distribution & Operations at the BBC.
Streaming Media Europe consists of a major 2-day conference plus three satellite events: Content Delivery Summit, Connected Home (new for 2011) and Online Video Strategies. There is also a free entry Expo. Streaming Media Europe is a unique European forum in its focus on both the business and technology of online video. This year's event has a particular emphasis on delivering video to users wherever they are: at work, at home or on the move.
Conference Programme Director, Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen commented,
"We're really excited by the new format at this year's Streaming Media Europe. We've relocated to a bigger and better networking space and, with the addition of our three satellite conferences: Content Delivery Summit, the brand new Connected Home, and Online Video Strategies, we're able to provide industry perspective on delivering online video to users wherever they are - at work, at home, or on the move.
"Streaming Media Europe is now the only single event in Europe to examine all of these interconnected multi-channel technologies and make sense of the options, strategies and opportunities available to today's business."
Streaming Media Europe's two conference tracks - Technology & Content and Business & Strategy - offer coverage of the latest streaming trends including HTML5, adaptive bitrate streaming, CDN infrastructure, and multiscreen delivery. The event once again plays host to a comprehensive free entry Expo showcasing some of the online video industry's key providers and producers.
Satellite Conferences at Streaming Media Europe
Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, Content Delivery Summit looks set to become a regular fixture in the CDN industry calendar. A one-day conference focusing on the future of online video delivery for content owners, infrastructure providers and the financial community, Content Delivery Summit facilitates discussion about the major challenges for solutions providers, and examines the technologies and commercial developments that have made a major impact in recent months. This year there's a special session exploring the needs for and viability of CDN federation.
Connected Home 2011 is the latest satellite conference to join the Streaming Media Europe programme. Exploring the new business opportunities arising from the growing number of network-connected devices and displays in the home, Connected Home 2011 brings online video content providers, technology suppliers, and services together under the same roof with their peers in the cable, satellite, and broadcast television fields. Connected Home Programme Chairman, William Cooper of informitv said,
"Connected Home 2011 looks specifically at the distribution of digital media to and through the connected home from the perspectives of the various sectors involved in this complex ecosystem. It is unlikely that a single winner will end up owning the consumer, but our aim is to help participants understand the roles and relationships of the various players in order to best position themselves in the connected value network."
In an environment where publishing and distributing video online has never been easier, and with a bewildering range of online video platforms to choose from, Online Video Strategies provides clear advice and strategy tips to those businesses who are just starting to implement video as an integral part of their B2B or B2C communications strategy. This includes small- and medium-sized businesses, large corporations, government agencies.
Streaming Media Europe's advance programme is announced this week, with confirmation of the full speaker line up expected later this summer.
