ISFAHAN, Iran 30 (AFX) - Iran still intends to resume full-scale uranium enrichment activities and is only willing to accept temporary limitations on the sensitive nuclear work, President Mohammad Khatami said.
"Despite the pressures from every side to deprive it of peaceful nuclear technology, the Islamic republic... is on the verge of producing (nuclear) fuel," the president told reporters after a tour of nuclear facilities.
Also on Wednesday, Iran gave reporters a rare glimpse of the centerpiece of its controversial nuclear programme, sending another clear message that it was eager to resume enriching uranium.
"The people involved in the project are frustrated by the suspension," Mohammad Saeedi, the deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation, said after a group of some 50 journalists were allowed to accompany President Mohammad Khatami on a tour of the sprawling facility.
