Autonomy Further Strengthens OEM Relationship With Unisys in the Key Police Sector

Finanznachrichten News

CAMBRIDGE, England, September 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autonomy Corporation plc , a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that OEM partner Unisys is releasing version 11 of HOLMES 2 (Home Office Large Major Enquiry System), the U.K.'s primary major investigation system, featuring the core Autonomy IDOL data aggregation and analysis technology, to assist UK police forces investigating major crime. Unisys is also leveraging Autonomy technology to provide UK police forces with the ability to synchronize HOLMES 2 investigations with other critical intelligence and background information sources held in other stovepipe command applications, effectively breaking down the barriers between information silos.

Unisys has extended its relationship with Autonomy to offer a state of the art data warehouse and intelligence analysis system under the Active Intelligence Program. Based on Autonomy's IDOL and Aungate technology, this system can mobilize and analyze all underlying intelligence, synchronize it with other mission critical systems and enable access at the point of operational need in real-time.

Police forces that have already implemented these capabilities include South Yorkshire, Humberside, Staffordshire and Cheshire.

"In a complex investigation, officers often don't know what to search for, let alone the exact keywords that will lead them to useful information. Since this technology can point out potential avenues of investigation it will prove invaluable for officers as they face ever more complex cases and more experienced criminals," commented David Rock-Evans, Head of Information Systems, South Yorkshire Police.

Autonomy's patented conceptual technology provides police forces with far more than a mere search tool. Since IDOL is based on meaning rather than just keywords, it can highlight unexpected links between data and auto-cluster critical information to provide insight and analysis far beyond that of search.

Additionally due to its advanced XML handling, IDOL also allows police forces to aggregate, transform and load national database and core information sharing in line with Cross Regional Information Sharing Project (CRISP) and National Intelligence Model 2 (NIM 2) standards, thus providing forces with the mechanism to hit all national data sharing and Bichard report recommendations associated with intelligence handling and vetting.

Further, IDOL's ability to automatically capture, encode and index multimedia content from any source allows investigators to analyze audio and video data coming in through emergency call command lines and intelligence and surveillance operations. IDOL also deals with information and communication audit requirements enabling police forces to meet corporate governance obligations for information management.

"I'm pleased that Autonomy is playing such a key role in supporting the work of law enforcement across the country," commented Mike Lynch, CEO, Autonomy. "Our work with Unisys demonstrates that Autonomy's technology is capable of providing far more than just efficiency increases. Meaning-based computing, and its ability to understand the concept and context of information in any format, can fundamentally change the way that professionals work, and is already having a huge impact on investigation, security and surveillance."
