8x8 Promotes Dr. Garth Judge to Vice President of Research & Development

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- 8x8, Inc. , provider of Packet8 residential, business and video Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone services, today announced that Dr. Garth Judge has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Research & Development. Marc Petit-Huguenin, previously Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Research & Development, will remain 8x8's Chief Technology Officer focusing on next generation communications technologies, future platforms and advanced research and development.

Dr. Judge joined 8x8 in 2000 as a Software Engineer for the company's Netergy Microelectronics subsidiary, in charge of the development of reference VoIP protocol stacks for Netergy's reference design platforms. Following that, Judge became Firmware Development Manager at 8x8, overseeing all software/firmware development for the Packet8 telephone terminal adaptors and the DV326 videophone. From there, he was promoted to the position of Director of Research & Development where, in addition to managing firmware development, he led the Packet8 Beta Network and Quality Assurance programs.

As Vice President of Research & Development, Judge assumes responsibility for the development of new features and expansion of all current Packet8 communication platforms, including the Packet8 residential voice and video services as well as the Packet8 Virtual Office service, the company's flagship voice over IP services for consumers and small to medium-sized businesses.
