NEW YORK (AP) - Online search giant Google Inc. has acquired certain assets and technology of social mobile service provider Zingku, a Google spokesman said Friday.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
In an e-mail, Google spokesman Andrew Pederson said Zingku's assets 'can help build products and features that will benefit our users, advertisers and publishers.'
A Zingku spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment. According to the company's Web site, Zingku has 'entered into an agreement to have Google acquire our Zingku service.'
Zingku's services are free and so far have been offered through a private test phase. Among other things, the services let consumers share cell phone photos with others through texting, get online blog posts sent to their cell phones as text messages, and poll friends via text message.
Google shares rose 60 cents to $568.10 in afternoon trading.
