The insurer's next chairman requires experience and international vision, but not necessarily technical expertise, Mediolanum CEO Ennio Doris said in an interview in Corriere della Sera on Sunday.
Cesare Geronzi, chairman of Mediobanca, Generali's largest shareholder, is an extraordinary chairman of the investment bank and could take on the Generali role, he said. Doris is a director of Mediobanca.

The utility's 3 billion euro retail bond attracted 13 billion euro in subscriptions and will cost 51 million euros in fees for banks placing the bond, sources close to the issue told Reuters on Friday.

BANCA POPOLARE DI MILANO
The cooperative bank is unworried by Basel III credit requirements and will present 'satisfactory' fourth-quarter results, General Director Fiorenzo Dalu told Corriere della Sera. The results will show one-off costs of 184 million euros from an operation which will 'reverberate' by 50 million euros in future results, he said.
The bank also wants to conclude a bancassurance deal after the summer, Dalu said. Assicurazioni Generali is among the candidates.
Nomura cut its price target to 6.5 euros from 6.6 euros, keeps 'buy' rating.
FINMECCANICA
The U.S. Navy is launching a new tender for production of between 23 and 28 helicopters for the U.S. presidential fleet with shows of interest due by March 3, Il Sole 24 Ore said on Saturday in an unsourced report.

Controlling shareholder Fonciere des Regions said it would reduce its stake in the real estate company to 52.5 percent from 68 percent through an extraordinary shares dividend. The French parent will move to make Beni Stabili an SIIQ, or real estate investment trust.
IRIDE, ENIA
The merged Iride/Enia will look to acquire stakes in environmental services and water companies that come up for sale in its area in privatisationz, Enia CEO Andrea Viero said in a Milano Finanza interview on Saturday.
The two companies believe 4.2 Iride shares for each Enia share is a satisfactory share swap for the merger, he added.
MARIELLA BURANI FASHION GROUP
The bankruptcy administrator of the group's controlling shareholder Burani Designer Holding NV wants MBFG to call a shareholder meeting without delay to discuss changes to the board, MBFG said in a statement on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, MBFG's board decided to ask for protection from creditors and for the company to be put in administration.
DE LONGHI
The appliance maker's EBITDA margin will fall to 8.9 percent in 2009, from 10.8 percent a year earlier, with sales down 9 percent to 1.392 billion euros, Il Sole 24 Ore said in its share of the week feature on Saturday.
AZIMUT, CATTOLICA ASSICURAZIONI
Insurer Cattolica has sold its Apogeo Consulting Sim financial adviser unit to asset manager Azimut for 3.2 million euro plus an agreement to sell insurance products, the companies said on Friday in a joint statement.
