Russia AvtoVAZ needs 3 bln euros for development-CEO

MOSCOW, March 2 (Reuters) - AvtoVAZ, Russia's largest carmaker, needs 3 billion euros for business development, Igor Komarov, the company's chief executive, said on Tuesday.

'In the situation we have found ourselves, we will be asking the government for very serious support,' Komarov said in quotes emailed to Reuters.

'We need the help of our strategic partners and the government -- our major shareholder -- to help with financing.'

Loss-making AvtoVAZ is controlled by the government and part-owned by France's Renault.
