For the first time home theater technologies can provide a comparable experience as the movie theater and today Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. continues to bring the excitement of the cinema into the comforts of the home with its new line of Elite A/V receivers. Working closely with THX Ltd. and Air Studios, experts in reference sound recreation, Pioneer brings to market the industry's only THX and Air Studios certified products that deliver unprecedented home theater sound. The Pioneer and Elite line of products, including its 2010 Elite A/V receiver, Blu-ray Disc player and speaker offerings continue to provide the highest fidelity home entertainment experience.
Maintaining partnerships with world-renowned sound experts such as THX and Air Studios has been a key component of Pioneer's understanding and capability of delivering cinematic and studio quality entertainment in the home. Leveraging the expertise of both audio companies has allowed Pioneer to bring several 'industry first' technologies to the market such as ICEPower Class-D amplification to its top-of-the-line receivers and MCACC room calibration for a customized listening experience. To enable consumers, retailers, dealers and distributors to discover the level of commitment to the stringent certification stands of both companies, Pioneer has developed three ways to share the details:
Pioneer's corporate website (www.pioneerelectronics.com) gives consumers access to commentary from entertainment professionals including sound composer Michael Giacchino, Pioneer's own speaker engineer and developer Andrew Jones and AIR Studios and THX visionaries about the value of sound in entertainment. These expert commentaries support Pioneer's mission of developing products to translate the small nuances of sound and video to convey the purity of an artist's original vision to discerning audiences.
To educate Pioneer retailers about the industry-leading partnerships and provide access to information about the brand, Pioneer has created The Source, an exclusive site dedicated to informing and educating their sales field. Once signed up, users can view educational videos, participate in product quizzes, gain access to Pioneer national trainers, research news and industry trends, discuss topics on forums and, obtain product support documentation, sell sheets, and custom installation codes and command protocols.
For demonstration on the retail floor, Pioneer created a series of videos to illustrate to potential customers the working relationships between Pioneer, creative professionals, AIR Studios and THX as well as showcase Pioneer's unmatched spectrum of audio and video product offerings.
"Through the past ten years, THX and Air Studios have become an increasingly integral part of our product development process and bringing new technologies to the market. Their logos on our products signal to dealers, retailers and customers that Pioneer is committed to earning its title of the A/V specialist," said Russ Johnston, executive vice president of home entertainment and business solutions group at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
THX Partnership
THX specifications are considered the industry benchmark for delivering cinema performance. Achieving THX certification for a home entertainment product is no simple task; an amplifier must pass more than 2,000 tests covering 14,000 data points, including noise, distortion, current, voltage output and many others. This certification ensures the home audience is experiencing the exact Reference Level sound quality used by filmmakers to mix the movie, with the same fidelity found in the studio. In addition, the THX® Ultra2™ Plus and THX® Select2™ Plus certification categories for Pioneer home entertainment products are based on room size to help consumers select the appropriate A/V receivers for their specific listening environment. Pioneer's ongoing work with THX has fostered more than 100 THX Certified A/V receivers – more than any other consumer electronics company.
For several years Pioneer has been the only consumer electronics manufacturer to bring to market a full lineup of THX Certified audio and video products, from the industry's first certified Blu-ray Disc player, the Elite® BDP-09FD, to its Select2™ certification of its Elite EX Series in-wall and in-ceiling architectural speakers.

Air Studios Partnership
Founded more than 70 years ago as a high performance speaker company, Pioneer recognized that it held a similar enthusiasm with world renowned music recording facility, Air Studios in London. Having worked with numerous, legendary artists and bands during the recording process, Air Studios was sensitive to the steps necessary for playback in other environments. The two entertainment companies are now embarking on the tenth year of an exclusive partnership and work together to develop technology that authentically translates the musical experience to bring studio-level entertainment to today's home audiences. This shared commitment has resulted in ongoing co-development, design and tuning of numerous Air Studios certified reference-class home theater products and high-end components, including Pioneer's TAD professional speakers, Elite EX speakers as well its A/V receivers.
The Advanced Multi-Channel AcoustiC Calibration (MCACC) was developed collaboratively with Air Studios' experts to help perfect the "sweet spot" of a room and this year the technology has been updated to hold measured data in the USB memory and to display the results graph on a computer screen.

About Pioneer Electronics
It all began with a passion for music that Pioneer founder Nozomu Matsumoto hoped to share with the world. He started Pioneer in 1938 as a specialty speaker company, building products out of his garage. Today, Pioneer's Home Entertainment and Business Solutions Group continues Matsumoto's enthusiasm, developing award-winning audio and video home theater products including A/V receivers, Blu-ray Disc® and DVD players, and speakers. Long-standing partnerships and collaborations with the creative community have provided Pioneer unique insight in its quest to capture the purity of a movie or musical artist's original vision into its broad range of home entertainment products. The company's brands include Pioneer® and Elite®. More details can be found at www.pioneerelectronics.com.
