ZURICH, July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
- Deployment of secure communications for Indonesian Army
The Swiss company Qnective was honoured last Friday by the visit of a high-level delegation representing Indonesia. His Excellency the Chief of Staff Moeldoko of the Indonesian armed forces was accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland and senior officers from Indonesia. The visit reflects significant demand for a secure mobile communications solution for the Indonesian armed forces. In the near future, governmental bodies within Indonesia will be able to exchange encrypted voice and data without the risk that third parties may be eavesdropping - the solution will be deployed on standard smartphones already in use. Ten mobile phones, equipped with the customised Qnective software, Qtalk Defense, were handed over to symbolise the initial milestone agreement which includes license allocation for 120,000 users.
The Indonesian Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, His Excellency Djoko Sousilo, expressed his highest consideration to the close cooperation between Qnective and Indonesia: "Such technology of Qnective is very important for the development of our communications. With this commitment, we foresee long-term value and benefits within our own country with the anticipated technical training and job creation. This cooperation will further enhance the deep friendship between Indonesia and Switzerland." For the government of Indonesia, the fact that existing network infrastructure (e.g. GSM) can be used was very important. Qnective's proposal relied on their own proprietary software solution, the niche Qnective software 'Qtalk Defense' running on existing mobile networks to encrypt all communications. An additional advantage is the fact that their software is deployed on commonly held smartphones which already have an 80 percent market penetration in Indonesia.
Qtalk Defense is specifically designed for use by governmental offices, public organizations or military departments requiring the strongest protection in their daily communications over mobile devices or desktop/laptop computers. Furthermore, customers can request project specific adaptions like altering the encryption algorithms used or other similar security parameters in the product. For the country of Indonesia, the initial deployment includes licenses for 120,000 distinct users, training and support as well as the handling of any network operations on site with local partners.
