HOUSTON (dpa-AFX) - National Oilwell Varco, Inc. (NOV) reported net income for the second quarter of $289 million or $0.74 per share, compared to $619 million or $1.44 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted net income for the latest quarter was $301 million or $0.77 per share.
Revenues for the second quarter fell 26% to $3.91 billion from $5.26 billion a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.64 per share on revenue of $3.86 billion for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
