BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - MTU Aero Engines Holding AG (MTUAY.PK) Monday said that for the first nine months of the year its net income advanced to 151.8 million euros from 138.2 million euros in 2014.
Net income increased 30 percent on a comparable basis to 231.4 million euros from 178.3 million euros in the previous year.
Revenues climbed 16 percent to 3.257 billion euros from 2.812 billion euros in the prior year.
MTU's order backlog amounted to 11.127 billion euros, compared to 11.177 billion euros as at December 31, 2014. This corresponds to a production span of around two-and-a-half years.
Majority of these orders relate to the V2500 engine for the Airbus A320 and the PW1000G family of geared turbofan engines, notably the PW1100G-JM for the A320neo.
Reiner Winkler, CEO of MTU Aero Engines AG, said, 'The favorable U.S. dollar exchange rate has again acted as a tailwind for both our revenues and our earnings. Based on the nine month results, and given the persistently positive market environment and currency situation, we are in a position to reaffirm the targets we set for the full financial year.'
The group expects to generate revenues in the region of 4.600 billion euros, compared to 3.914 billion generated last year.
The company expects adjusted EBIT to increase to around 430 million euros from last year's 382.7 million euros. Earnings after tax are projected to be approximately 295 million euros, compared to adjusted net income of 253.3 million euros in 2014.
