AngloGold Ashanti says COO Dave Hodgson, CFO Jonathan Best to retire this yr

LONDON (AFX) - AngloGold Ashanti Ltd said chief operating officer Dave Hodgson and chief financial officer Jonathan Best will retire in 2005.

Best, who will retire at the end of July, will be replaced by SrinivasanVenkatakrishnan on Aug 1. Venkat served as CFO of Ashanti Goldfields for four years and since last May has served as the deputy CFO.

Hodgson will retire at the end of April 2005 and the company said because of its size it will appoint two COOs.

Neville Nicolau and Roberto Silva are currently deputy COOs for operations in Africa and those in the Americas and Australia respectively. They will be appointed COOs with these geographically defined responsibilities starting May 1.

Hodgson and Best have agreed to remain consultants to the company for at least their first year of retirement.
