TV Guide and TV Land Join Forces To Count Down The 100 Most Unexpected TV Moments

NEW YORK, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- From the "Heidi-Bowl" to Muhammad Ali raising the torch at The 1996 Olympics to Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction at The Superbowl, television has provided some of the most significant and surprising moments in history. Building on the success of 2004's 100 Most Memorable TV Moments, TV Land will premiere TV Guide and TV Land Present: The 100 Most Unexpected TV Moments on Monday, December 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. This five-part special -- which coincides with the December 1 publication of TV Guide's editorial feature -- looks at some of the most unexpected milestones in television history. Topics to be covered will range from the Al and Tipper kiss to Frank Sinatra being surprised by the appearance of his new bride, Mia Farrow, on What's My Line?

TV Guide Magazine, the premiere source for television and entertainment, and TV Land, the classic TV experts, have partnered to narrow down the 100 most hilarious, significant, influential and shocking TV moments of all time with this premiere and a companion issue of TV Guide Magazine. This five-night series of one-hour specials reflects on more than 50 years of outstanding televised moments spanning the spectrum of TV genres, including news, dramas, soaps, comedies, talk shows and sports. The TV Land special is produced by Gay Rosenthal Productions.

100 Most Unexpected TV Moments on TV Land features archival clips, original interviews and rare appearances by celebrities who discuss the impact of television's most unanticipated moments. From the surprising reunion of Sonny and Cher on Late Night with David Letterman to the bewildering St. Elsewhere finale to the infamous Janet Jackson Superbowl incident, this countdown special showcases the moments that have become indelibly etched in our memories and continue to stand the test of time.
