Krones Inc., a world leader in the manufacture of
packaging and bottling systems, today announced the retirement of
chief executive officer and Krones Inc. board member Heinz Sommer, and
the election of Holger Beckmann as his successor. Beckmann, 39, has
been chief financial officer for the company and a member of the
Krones Inc. board of directors since 2005. Sommer will provide
continuity as a consultant to the company.
Volker Kronseder, chairman of the executive board, Krones AG, Germany, recognized Sommer's contributions: "We are extremely grateful to Heinz Sommer for the significant role he played in Krones Inc.'s growth and profitability, and his diligent management of the organization. Beckmann joined Krones AG in Neutraubling, Germany, as controller in 2002. Prior to that, he served in various financial management, and project and process engineering management positions with multinational companies. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Hagen, Germany, and a master's degree in science in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany.
Manthey elected to Krones Inc. board
In a related announcement, the company said that Roman Manthey, 32, senior vice president sales and marketing for Krones Inc., had been elected to the Krones Inc. board of directors, which includes Krones Inc. executive managers, Holger Beckmann, chief executive officer, and Hubert Ermer, PhD, chief operating officer. Manthey began his career with Krones AG, Germany in 1999 as a project manager in the sales department. In 2000, he was named manager of the business development department of Krones Inc. In this capacity, Manthey directed the strategic development of key account customers and product business strategies. Prior to joining Krones, Manthey held positions with several breweries in the United States and Germany.
Manthey graduated from the Technical University of Weihenstephan/Munich in Freising, Germany, where he studied beverage technology. He earned master's degree from the Technical University of Munich.
