
GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany, June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego (Calif.) Strikers girls soccer club had a dream come true this week when they took the field as Flag Bearers at the world's largest sporting event, the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany(TM). The Strikers earned the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate as Flag Bearers for the Japan vs. Australia and U.S.A. vs. Czech Republic pre-match ceremonies after winning the prestigious 2006 Copa Coca-Cola national tournament in May. As part of the Coca-Cola Youth Program, the girls are among 300 young people from across the globe serving as Flag Bearers and Referee Escorts for all World Cup(TM) pre-match ceremonies.
