SHUNEH, Jordan (AFX) - Jordan today urged Israel to lift 'immediately' a sea and air blockade of Lebanon after talks between King Abdullah II and US Secretary General Kofi Annan.
'His majesty King Abdullah has expressed his condemnation of the Israeli blockade of Lebanon and called for the immediate lift of the blockade,' during talks with Annan, Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Khatib said.
Annan echoed this request and insisted on the need to move quickly for the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 that called for an end to fighting between Israel and Lebanon's Shiite Muslim Hezbollah militia.
