
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AFX) - Nissan North America Inc. said Friday its U.S. auto sales fell in November on weaker truck demand.
The automaker said domestic auto sales fell 1.6 percent to 76,015 cars and trucks from 77,212 in last year's period. Its Nissan brand reported a 1.8 percent decline in sales to 65,633 cars and trucks, while its luxury Infiniti brand saw a 0.2 percent rise to 10,382 units.
Overall car sales grew 11.5 percent to 42,361 units, led by a 20.1 percent gain in its Altima line.
Truck sales, however, fell 14.2 percent to 33,654 units, with a 31.8 percent decline for its Xterra sport utility vehicle.
Year to date, overall vehicle sales are down 5.9 percent to 927,474. Car sales are down 5.5 percent to 500,843, and truck sales have fallen 6.4 percent to 426,631.
