Gerber recalls organic rice and organic oatmeal cereals

ZURICH (Thomson Financial) - US baby food company Gerber said it is voluntarily recalling organic rice and organic oatmeal cereals due to a potential choking hazard.

A limited quantity of the products may contain lumps of cereal, which do not dissolve in water or milk, Gerber said, noting the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was aware of the recall.

The Novartis AG -- current owner of the Gerber -- earlier this year announced the sale of the unit for 5.5 bln usd to Nestle SA, and for which regulatory approval is still pending.
