Nykredit Reduces Time-to-Market and Costs by 30 Percent Using Service-Oriented Partner Portal Based on BEA Technology

Finanznachrichten News

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today revealed that Nykredit has reported that it is reducing both the time-to-market for innovative new financial services and costs by 30 percent, using a service-oriented partner portal based on BEA technology. Denmark's second-largest lender and the country's largest mortgage provider has implemented an open, standards-based infrastructure using BEA WebLogic(R) Portal, BEA WebLogic(R) Server, and BEA WebLogic(R) Integration. The partner portal has been well received by users and is generating the projected ROI

"Service-Oriented Architecture and governance are closely connected in our culture," says Lars Mathiesen, CIO, Nykredit. "We see IT as an integrated part of our business, and we prefer to define our projects as business projects, not IT projects. That gives us better results, lower cost, faster time to market, and allows us to keep ahead in the financial world."

Total lending by the Nykredit Group is euro 85bn, giving it a market share of 32.8 percent. The company's other activities include insurance and estate agency services. Following a period of acquisition, Nykredit experienced growing demand for a high-performance portal that would support the company's product distribution through partnership banks-and it was decided that this portal would be based on a new infrastructure which would be common to all future Web-based applications.

Given the requirements and based on previous experience with building and operating Nykredit's internet bank based on BEA, Nykredit developed the new partner portal internally using BEA WebLogic Portal, BEA WebLogic Server, and BEA WebLogic Integration as key components for the new infrastructure.

The portal has been developed in three phases, the first of which involved presenting information: effectively an extranet extension. The second phase provided advanced support to customer advisors, with a host of tools and information relating to products, housing, taxes, and simulated models of household budgets. This includes data collection from multiple external sources through use of Web services. The third phase to be implemented will integrate the actual purchase and delivery of loans. In a later stage even public registration can be automated in the partnership portal.

Nykredit has already seen benefits of the SOA approach used in the partner portal. The development cost of a new portal for business customers was reduced significantly by reusing the platform and key components.
