The conference takes place September 8-10, 2008 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Guidance Software Assistant General Counsel Patrick Burke will take part in "Taming the Document Review Monster", a pre-conference workshop from 9:00 am - noon on September 8th that focuses on improving the efficiency of the eDiscovery process from collection to attorney review. From noon to 3:00 pm on that same day, Burke will be joined by James Doyle, Senior Director of Guidance Software's Professional Services Division, in a workshop entitled "An In-Depth Look at Collection, Culling, & Processing". This workshop will demonstrate how organizations can efficiently collect data and perform processing.
The following day, Burke will moderate a panel discussion entitled "View from the Bench: E-Discovery in the Courtroom" from 12:00-1:00 pm. This panel will feature first-hand perspectives from magistrate judges on courtroom scenarios, pending cases and other judicial matters regarding eDiscovery. Panelists will include Hon. David J. Waxse, U.S. Magistrate Judge (D. KAN.), Hon. Andrew J. Peck, U.S. Magistrate Judge (S.D. N.Y.) and Hon. John Hughes, U.S. Magistrate Judge (D. N.J.).
On the next day, Burke will chair the conference, and participate in a panel discussion entitled "Coordinating IT and Legal Efforts by Shifting from Reactive to Proactive eDiscovery Processes" from 9:00-10:00 am, Wednesday, September 10th. This panel will examine how IT and Legal can work together to proactively develop proven, credible and defensible eDiscovery processes and procedures. It will also feature a discussion on the unique challenges and requirements for each group and the strategic value that IT can bring to legal departments.
