CTPartners today announced that John T.W. Hawkins has joined as a co-leader and Vice Chairman in the firm's Life Sciences and Healthcare Practice.
Mr. Hawkins has over 20 years of executive search, board consulting, and corporate experience, all with an intense focus in healthcare. His career in executive search started at Russell Reynolds where he helped create and lead their global Healthcare Sector and specialized in serving international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Additionally, across all industry vertical markets, he led their Board of Directors and CEO Practice for three years. During his eleven-years of service in the industry, Mr. Hawkins has led or co-led numerous search engagements for the recruitment of CEOs and Board Directors. Most recently, he was the Regional Managing Partner of The Americas Region for Heidrick & Struggles.
In 2000, Mr. Hawkins co-founded a private equity buyout firm which subsequently in 2001 acquired the healthcare business of NYSE-listed Carter-Wallace, Inc. Upon its acquisition, the business was re-named MedPointe Inc., and John was appointed a Member of MedPointe's Executive Committee and its EVP-Corporate Development & External Affairs. In MedPointe's formative years, he was actively involved in recruiting Directors to its board, raising private equity and debt capital, and recruiting numerous members of its founding management team. MedPointe was acquired in 2007 by Swedish specialty pharmaceutical concern, Meda AB, in an $800M cash/stock transaction, which yielded equity investors a substantial return on their investment
Earlier in his career, Mr. Hawkins served as SVP & CFO of NASDAQ-listed Monsanto biotechnology spinout, Invitron Corporation, and as a healthcare equity banker with Alex. Brown & Sons.
Brian Sullivan, Chairman and CEO of CTPartners noted, "We are pleased to have John join our team. He has a unique mix of executive search and corporate experience, having established himself as one of the top global Pharma-Life Sciences/Board consultants in the industry as well as having co-founded and participated in the creation of a successful healthcare products leveraged buyout which delivered substantial value to its equity investors. He enhances and complements the extensive CEO/Board-level experience we are building at our firm, and we are thrilled to have him here. Our clients will be as well. He will co-lead the Life Sciences & Healthcare Practice with our esteemed colleague, Buster Houchins."
