EMB, a global property and casualty (P&C) consulting firm, today announced that Abbe Bensimon has joined EMB America as a C-Counsel Consultant. In this role, Bensimon will add significantly to EMB's consulting practice, especially in the area of reinsurance and enterprise risk management (ERM). She will also open EMB's sixth office in the US, located in Stamford, Connecticut.
Prior to EMB, Bensimon's career spans nearly 30 years of experience in many actuarial roles, including reinsurance, underwriting, marketing, reserving, and ratemaking. Most recently, she served as Vice President at General Reinsurance Capital Consulting, offering consultancy to a variety of P&C insurance companies on ERM and dynamic financial modeling issues. Moreover, Bensimon collaborated closely with key decision-makers on actionable risk and capital management strategies to ensure a consistent, objective, and realistic ERM framework.
"Abbe's experience in the property and casualty industry, especially related to ERM consultancy, will complement the current EMB US team," says Tom Hettinger, Managing Director of EMB in North America. "Her industry insight will be of great benefit not only to EMB, but to our customers as well. During this tough financial time, more and more insurers and reinsurers are reevaluating or designing ERM strategies and seeking counsel. Abbe's background makes her a perfect fit to meet this increasing demand."
Bensimon is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), where she has served on the Executive Council, the Program Planning Committee, and the Examination Committee. She is also a published author and frequent speaker on enterprise risk management and reinsurance topics.
Bensimon's appointment and the opening of the Connecticut office add to the expansion of EMB, which has grown in the past year with new offices and the hiring of several key senior staff members. Moreover, during this time, the company has promoted Katie DeGraaf, Emily Stoll, Julie Ann Walker and Sandy Wu to Consultant; supported the ACAS accreditation of Stoll, Walker and Wu; and welcomed Christine Gennett as a new Consultant.
