BWise, the global leader in governance, risk and compliance (GRC) management software, announced today that it has been chosen as the GRC software solution for Health Alliance Plan (HAP). A nonprofit health plan based in Detroit, Mich., HAP provides health care coverage to more than 500,000 members.
BWise Internal Control, Compliance Management, Risk Management and Process Management software modules will assist HAP with the NAIC Model Audit Rule compliance in 2010 and HIPAA compliance. The NAIC Model Audit Rule was enacted to improve the surveillance of the financial condition of insurers through the efficient use of internal controls and audits.
BWise software cross references all controls in a central repository, creating an efficient compliance and GRC framework by combining sound compliance with strong internal control, risk management and audit practices, all fully integrated to avoid duplication of controls and duties.
HAP considered a handful of vendors in their selection process and felt that BWise was the most robust, flexible solution for their Model Audit Rule and HIPAA needs.
“HAP is confident that our GRC software partner, BWise, will enable us to maintain our high standards of financial accountability,” said Dianna Ronan, vice president of Financial Services.
Robert Pijselman, CEO of BWise added, “BWise software can help insurers and other organizations with the compliance of several regulations, the NAIC Model Audit Rule and HIPAA in particular. BWise is very proud to have been selected by HAP for their MAR and HIPAA compliance.”
