PeriGen, Inc., the only OB-specific risk reduction company to provide solutions which generate immediate quantifiable clinical and financial value, today announced that its Chief Medical Officer, Dan O’Keeffe, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., has been appointed Executive Vice President of the nation’s preeminent association of obstetric sub-specialists, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Comprised of obstetricians/gynecologists with advanced training and expertise in maternal and fetal healthcare, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine is committed to improving perinatal outcomes and providing leadership for the advancement of women and children's health through pregnancy care, research, and education.
In his 14 year career of voluntary service within the SMFM, Dr. O’Keeffe has served as a representative of the society’s Government Relations, Coding, and Practice Management Committees, as well as a member of its Board of Directors. For his years of dedication and service, Dr. O’Keeffe was presented the society’s highest honor, the SMFM Lifetime Achievement Award, in 2005. Effective September 14, 2009, Dr. O’Keeffe assumed the role of Executive Vice President, leading initiatives to reduce the risks associated with childbirth and improve perinatal outcomes, consistent with the Society’s mission and values.
An experienced physician leader, board-certified in obstetrics, gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. O’Keeffe is the Founder and Director of Phoenix Perinatal Associates in Phoenix, Arizona, and currently sits on a number of boards, including the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Foundation. Dr. O’Keeffe is a long standing supporter of PeriGen’s OB-specific risk reduction services, and has served as PeriGen’s Chief Medical Officer since 2007.
“Dr. O’Keeffe is an expert, innovator, and leader in the field of obstetric medicine. He has continually demonstrated his commitment to safe, high-quality patient care, and I applaud his work. The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine is recognized as an industry leader in the advancement of women and children's health, and we could not be more proud that the Society has chosen to appoint Dr. O’Keeffe to the position of Executive Vice President,” said Donald A. Deieso, Ph.D., PeriGen’s Chairman and CEO.
As Chief Medical Officer and Chair of PeriGen’s Physician Council, Dr. O’Keeffe works with PeriGen consultants to shape unique solutions that reduce risk and diminish medical malpractice cost while improving the quality of patient care in OB. PeriGen’s solutions incorporate the expertise of specialists like Dr. O’Keeffe with the advanced capabilities of proprietary clinical decision support technology to achieve dramatic, quantifiable results for client hospitals.
“With the entire country now focused on healthcare reform, it is the duty of organizations such as PeriGen to promote the importance of women’s and children’s health.
