"This manufacturing cooperation results in a clear expansion of capacity and enables us to meet the increasing demand for aluminium junction boxes reliably. Both Asian plants manufacture the same product lines. This gives us more flexibility even in times of temporary bottleneck situations," says Thomas Hoffmeister, Managing Partner of FPE Fischer.
Microtherm GmbH is an experienced company, which has owned and operated manufacturing plants in Asia for 19 years. In the context of the cooperation, Microtherm will not only take care of manufacturing, but will also be responsible for parts of process development and controlling as well as logistic planning. "Our production for FPE Fischer is completely detached from our other operations. We have set up a separate line here, hired numerous employees for this purpose and purchased the required machinery," underlines Hans Volz, member of the Microtherm management.
While some components for the aluminium junction boxes of FPE Fischer are manufactured at the Dongguan plant, others are supplied by third parties that are certified to the high quality standards. By means of this cooperation, the Pforzheim-based company enters a new business segment, i.e. solar technology. So far, its Chinese output has centred on top-quality thermostats, heating elements and toys. "This means that both partners benefit from the new cooperation," says Thomas Hoffmeister. His company counts on the expertise and experience of Microtherm with their production sites in Asia. This ensures constantly high product quality as well as absolute supply chain reliability. "For us, these are indispensable criteria in the dynamic solar technology market," Hoffmeister continues. The new plant's initial manufacturing capacity of 50,000 junction boxes per month is expected to be doubled next year in view of the strong growth experienced by FPE Fischer.
Superior technology in a new design
Besides its technical advantages, the new FPEAL005 aluminium junction box from FPE Fischer GmbH also offers colourful features. At Intersolar in Munich, the company will present the world's first colour anodized aluminium junction boxes for photovoltaic modules, thus meeting a demand that is made by more and more customers. Besides the compelling technology, colourful design is now another reason for choosing the products from FPE. The new FPEAL005 aluminium junction box is available in a variety of anodizing colours.
Aesthetic design has increasingly emerged as an important factor not only in the residential sector but also in industrial and commercial applications. Depending on the construction of a building, the back of the photovoltaic modules may be visible. This is why planners and architects nowadays attach growing importance to their visual effect.
