HALLOWELL, ME -- (Marketwire) -- 07/20/10 -- Granite Hill Estates (GHE), the Kennebec Valley's premier continuing care retirement community, will conduct its Second Annual Big Band Bash on Friday, August 13, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The rain date is August 14. This year's Bash also celebrates the 10th anniversary of GHE's establishment in 2000.
"The Big Band Bash is one of the highlights of our social summer," said Jennifer Fleck, GHE's Executive Director. "This year marks a significant milestone for us. As we like to say, we've been dancing for 10 years. Granite Hill has become a Hallowell destination. It's a wonderful place to live. And as more and more people are finding out, it's a great place to visit for social, recreational, and educational activities. We really do live life to the fullest here."
Once again, the Big Band Bash will feature the music of the Al Corey Orchestra, which has been entertaining Central Maine for more than 50 years with the music that was popularized in the 1940s. For more than 20 consecutive years, they showcased the Governor's Ball, playing the tunes of the Glenn Miller and Count Basie Orchestras. Their repertoire includes such tunes as "One O'clock Jump," "Moonlight Serenade," and "In the Mood."
To get to Granite Hill Estates, take exit 109 from the south or 109B from the north off I-95 (Winthrop). Head west on Route 202. Take a left onto Edison Drive. GHE is on the right.
