ISTANBUL, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday.
The lira was quoted at 1.4070 against the dollar in early trade, compared with a close of 1.4020 on Thursday.
The yield on the benchmark April 25, 2012 bond was a tad lower at 7.68 percent from the previous day's 7.69 percent, hovering close to a one-year low.
The main share index fell 1.34 percent to 69,225.72 points on profit taking after closing at record highs for three consecutive days.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Investors took profits on gains in stocks and commodities this week while buying back the U.S. dollar on Friday, but kept the currency close to a 10-month low ahead of a speech by the head of the Federal Reserve. The dollar steadied after overnight plumbing a low for the year against major currencies, having dropped 7 percent since September on expectations the Fed will soon have to flood the banking system with freshly printed cash to support the economy.
INTEREST RATES
Turkey's central bank cut its overnight borrowing rate by a surprisingly large 50 basis points on Thursday to encourage interbank lending but left its policy rate unchanged as expected.
DOGAN YAYIN
Chief executive of Turkey's largest media company Dogan Yayin Holding Nebil Ilseven says no roadmap has been made clear on the sale of the company's assets. He said there was no bargaining being conducted now, Dunya newspaper reports.
AYGAZ
Fuel distributor Aygaz, a unit of Koc Holding is holding negotiations for buying 350 retailers of Totalgaz, LPG unit of Total Oil, Sabah newspaper reports. The talks are at a later stage and if the talks are concluded successfully, Aygaz will raise its market share to above 30 percent.
UNEMPLOYMENT
The Turkish Statistics Institute will announce the June-August unemployment data at 0700 GMT.
