Ellen Taylor has joined American Humane Association as Director of Animal Welfare & Education, a position in which she will expand and enhance the organization's work to educate and support animal welfare professionals throughout the United States.
Ms. Taylor was previously director of community initiatives for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) based in New York City. Her extensive experience in animal welfare also includes positions as director of animal care services at the Humane Society of South Mississippi, executive director at the Humane Society of El Paso (Texas), director of operations at the Cleveland Animal Protective League, and director of operations and interim executive director at the Larimer Humane Society in Fort Collins, Colo.
"My passion for protecting animals has fueled 20 years in the animal welfare field, and this new position is the culmination of everything I have learned and achieved in those two decades," said Ms. Taylor. "I am thrilled to be bringing my experience and enthusiasm to American Humane Association as part of our renewed commitment to being the premier knowledge- and resource-sharing organization in the animal welfare industry."
Ms. Taylor attended Northern Virginia Community College. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a Certified Dialogue Education™ Practitioner (CDEP).
