DETROIT, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- DTE Energy has launched a new website to teach children about energy efficiency and renewable energy. The new site, dtekids.com, is geared for students in grades four through six.
Just in time for Halloween, the site is featuring a game called Energy Investigator that teaches children ways to save energy as they search for and defeat energy "vampires" - sneaky creatures that suck up electricity in unexpected places.
The site also includes a link to Renewable Energyville, where students can learn about wind, solar and hydroelectric power and more.
"This website offers kids a fun and creative way to explore energy," said Mary Beth Murray, DTE Energy energy optimization program manager. "Whether they're looking for information to write a report or just want to play games, we think dtekids.com is a site children will want to visit again and again."
In the months ahead, additional features will be added to the site, covering topics like the science of energy (including instructions for experiments that are science project worthy), the environment, and gas and electric safety.
