Applications Due Monday, Nov. 22 for December Grants Program
The Community Advisory Board (CAB) of American Seafoods Company today announced it is now accepting applications for its bi-annual Alaska community grant program. The deadline to submit applications for consideration is November 22.
A total of $30,000 will be allocated by the CAB in December to various community projects tackling issues such as health, hunger, housing, safety, education, research, natural resources and cultural activities.
For the last 13 years, the CAB community grant program has awarded $75,000 to community projects throughout rural Alaska. During the February 2010 CAB meeting, 33 recipients were awarded grants totaling over $29,500.
The CAB evaluates each proposal based on the following criteria: the need in the community, project benefits, the number of people that will benefit from the program, who the award is intended for, and the ability to garner additional funding. Grant recipients will be selected at the CAB's meeting on December 1.
"For over a decade, the CAB has awarded grants to more than 100 organizations that are making a difference in the Alaskan communities we operate in," said Inge Andreassen, president of American Seafoods Company. "We look forward to continuing to support and reward these organizations for their great work for years to come."
Applications for the grant program are available online at www.americanseafoods.com, or by contacting Kim Lynch at kim.lynch@americanseafoods.com or 206-256-2659. Completed applications should be returned to Lynch at American Seafoods using email, fax at 206-448-0202, or postal mail at 2025 1st Ave, Ste 900, Seattle, WA, 98121.
