High School Junior Designs Game App and Leads Company
Appuous Inc., a software development company founded by high school junior Austin Evers, today announced that Shuzzle, a new puzzle and shapes game, is now available for purchase in Apple's App Store for 99 cents and can be downloaded at http://itunes.com/apps/shuzzle.
Compatible with devices running iOS 4.1, Shuzzle is a deceptively simple puzzle game that challenges players to match shapes to colors while under the stress of a timer. The timer speeds up as someone plays, making it more difficult every second.
The objective in Shuzzle is to match a center shape with one of six surrounding shapes. A player wins one point by matching the correct shapes and ten points for matching both shape and color. In addition to moving shapes by tapping the six surrounding shapes – "touch" mode – players can use "tilt" mode, an innovative option that gives users full control over where the shapes go. Simply tilt the iPhone in order to move the shapes to their destination.
Austin Evers, president and CEO of Appuous, said, "In designing Shuzzle, I wanted to create an iPhone game that really engages the player. I believe we accomplished that through cool features like tilt mode, Play Your Own Tunes and Game Center. Shuzzle is a very interactive and addictive game that I think will be very popular with gamers of all ages."
Shuzzle offers several additional modes, including Advanced Piece, which enables players to forfeit the center piece for a new one and "lose a life"; Colorblind Mode, which replaces green, a color commonly difficult for the colorblind to see, with grey; Play Your Own Tunes, which allows you to assemble a playlist for listening during gameplay; and Game Center, Apple's new social gaming network which lets players post scores to a leader-board and earn achievements.
