Premiere Event Includes Panel Discussion and Live Red Carpet with Elite and Amateur Runners Broadcast to Nearly 350 Select Movie Theaters on January 11, 2011
This January, NCM Fathom and Run All Night Productions take audiences along for the world's largest running relay race with the premiere of Hood To Coast. This special in-theater Fathom event will be shown exclusively in nearly 350 select movie theaters on Tuesday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT / 6:00 p.m. MT / and 8:30 p.m. PT (tape delayed).
Hood To Coast is the inspiring new documentary that follows four teams with various levels of athletic ability on their epic journey to conquer the world's largest relay race, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2011. Audiences will join 12,000 runners (1,000 teams) and 2,000 support vans as they cover 197 grueling miles from the majestic Mt. Hood to the Pacific Ocean. Hood To Coast captures the love, dedication and insanity of the everyday runner, as well as the excitement, pain and humor of the unprepared first timer. As Bart Yasso of Runner's World put it, "If one documentary captures the runner's high – 'Hood To Coast' is it!"
Tickets to Hood To Coast are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the web site (theaters and participants may be subject to change).
In addition to the feature, Hood To Coast will include a live red-carpet and interviews from Portland, Ore., as well as a pre-recorded panel discussion with celebrities of the running world as they discuss their experience of participating in the Hood To Coast (HTC) relay and its unique place in the history of American running. Panelists include Mary Decker Slaney (Olympic runner and HTC Women's course record holder), Bart Yasso (editor, Runners World), Kenny Moore (Olympic runner, HTC runner and Sports Illustrated writer), Bob Foote (HTC founder and organizer) and director Christoph Baaden, among others.
"Hood To Coast astounds audiences with its amazing stories of the teams who push themselves to their very limits and beyond," said Dan Diamond, vice president of NCM Fathom. "Audiences in movie theaters will be truly inspired by the passion of these runners against 197 miles of the Northwest's toughest terrain."
Hood To Coast will be shown in 348 select movie theaters including AMC Entertainment Inc., Cinemark USA Inc., Clearview Cinemas, Cobb Theatres, Goodrich Quality Theatres, Hollywood Theaters, Kerasotes Showplace Theatres, Marcus Theatres, Rave Motion Pictures, R/C Theatres and Regal Entertainment Group movie theaters, as well as The Grand Theatre (Bismarck, ND) and Palace Cinema 9 (South Burlington, VT), through NCM's exclusive Digital Broadcast Network.
