Swagit Productions, LLC, the pioneer of the 'Hands-Free' fully automated streaming service plan for government, has backed Microsoft's announcement that H.264 is the best video format of choice for the future Internet. The announcement immediately puts those government jurisdictions and agencies using Swagit technology at the forefront of video streaming.
Swagit has widely been utilizing the H.264 video format since early 2008 for all of its government clients. Those government clients have the immediate ability to stream live and on-demand video content in H.264, in addition to any other widely accepted format. Swagit's forward thinking has put those jurisdictions and agencies not utilizing the quality and performance of H.264 potentially behind their neighboring communities.
"It is always nice to see your technology and forward thinking push an industry forward," said Swagit Productions, LLC President Bryan R. Halley. "Those competitors in the marketplace, that may not have a background in video, are now three years behind as they begin to convert existing libraries of Windows Media files into H.264. Fortunately, we saw H.264 as the 'clear leader' early with respect to digital video formats."
Coinciding with Microsoft's release of a H.264 plugin for Google's Chrome and support in IE9, Swagit earlier this year released both its adoption of the HTML5 and WebM video formats as an offering to those government clients who utilize Swagit's Extensible Automated Streaming Engine. "Our goal is to give government and citizens alike those video formats that achieve the greatest transparency without limitations to one platform or browser," said Swagit Productions, LLC Director of Streaming Media David Owusu.
