LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/08/11 -- The Cardinal's Awards Dinner's sole focus is to pay tribute to those who have given so graciously to the community. For the past twenty-two years, Cardinal Roger Mahony has honored over 100 people whose service to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and their communities has been extraordinary. The founding committee felt strongly that funds generated needed to be directed to the poor of the five pastoral regions in Los Angeles. Over two decades, the dinner has raised over $8,000,000 for the neediest of parishes and schools in the archdiocese.
The event is a black-tie gala taking place on Saturday, February 12th, 2011 at 5:30pm at The Grand Ballroom of Hollywood and Highland where the Governor's ball and Academy Awards are usually held. We are expecting 1,300 guests, breaking all past records, with gross proceeds exceeding one million dollars. Much of those proceeds, approximately $650,000, will benefit the Guardian Angel Parish in Pacoima. The Guardian Angel is a Catholic parish and school grades K-8. The parish community serves 40,000 Catholics in the San Fernando Valley. To learn more about the parish, watch the short video.
The event is honoring notable figures from around Los Angeles:
- Thomas J. Condon, San Marino, CA
- Javier Guerena, Los Angeles, CA
- Kathleen Lund, Pasadena, CA
- Patricia Paumier, Oxnard, CA
- Thomas Von Der Ahe, Sr., Burbank, CA
With Wolfgang Puck catering the event, Wayne Foster entertaining the guests, the USC Trojan marching band escorting guests into the event, and Jacky Ibarra, a vocalist from Pasadena, singing God Bless America, it is sure to be an event to remember.
