-- New Chairman and Directors are Introduced at ALFA 2011 Conference & Expo --
The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) today announced that Mark Ohlendorf, co-president and chief financial officer of Brookdale Senior Living, is the new chairman of the ALFA Board of Directors. Ohlendorf succeeds Granger Cobb, president and CEO of Emeritus Senior Living, who served as ALFA chairman for the past year.
"Resident-centered, consumer-driven senior living is incredibly well positioned to serve today's seniors and their families," said Ohlendorf. "It is critical we continue to look forward as an industry and as a society, to prepare for the growing population of seniors needing long-term services and support. The lines defining senior living options today are blurring as consumers continue to push providers to offer quality care and service where and how they want it. It's an honor for me to continue ALFA's leadership during these extraordinary times as we create the future of senior living."
Ohlendorf is joined on the ALFA Executive Committee by Vice Chairmen Loren Shook, president and CEO of Silverado Senior Living, and Brenda Bacon, president and CEO of Brandywine Senior Living; Secretary Pat Mulloy, president and CEO of Senior Care, Inc.; Treasurer Skip Comsia, CEO and president of SRC Retirement; and Tiffany Tomasso, partner of Fountain Square Senior Living.
New directors taking office this month are Lawrence Cohen, CEO of Capital Senior Living and Dan Hirschfeld, executive vice president of Genesis Healthcare. Brad Klitsch, senior vice president of Market Development for Direct Supply will assume an ex officio role on the Board and has been named chairman of the ALFA President's Council due to his long and meaningful service to the organization.
Other directors include Michel Augsburger, president and CEO of Chancellor Health Care; Granger Cobb, president and CEO of Emeritus Senior Living; Sue Farrow, president and CEO of Integral Senior Living; Stephanie Handelson, COO of Benchmark Senior Living; Chuck Herman, executive vice president and CIO of Health Care REIT; G. Michael Leader III, president and CEO of Country Meadows Retirement Communities; Bruce Mackey, president and CEO of Five Star Senior Living; Laura McDuffie, senior vice president of Operations of Sunrise Senior Living; Blaire Minton, founder and CEO of BMA Management; and Steven Vick, president and CEO of Signature Senior Living.
"It is a privilege to serve ALFA and work for such a distinguished and entrepreneurial board of senior living leaders," said Richard Grimes, president and CEO of the Assisted Living Federation of America. "The ALFA Board reflects the evolving nature of the senior living business and the passion within it to create a future that will continue to champion choice, independence, dignity and quality of life for seniors and their families."
