-- Hires Malware Expert Jeff Horne to Lead the Charge --
Accuvant, the only research-driven information security partner delivering alignment, clarity and confidence to enterprise and government clients, today announced that Accuvant LABS, its renowned assessment and research division, has launched a new Malware Solutions Practice. The practice, as well as its inaugural Malware Threat Assessment service, is designed to help clients protect their confidential customer information, privacy data, and intellectual property against malicious software (malware) outbreaks.
"With each passing day, malware becomes more prevalent, sophisticated, and virulent," said David Bonvillain, Accuvant LABS vice president. "We've seen a variety of cases where failing to proactively identify, target, and eliminate malware on infected systems has resulted in disastrous data compromise or serious availability issues. Our new malware practice and initial offering combine our dedicated malware analysts' vast experience identifying and combating malware outbreaks with the unparalleled reversing skills of our research team, and are supported by some of the best malware identification and analysis tools on the market. As a result, we're able to help our clients deal with infections decisively and effectively."
Accuvant's Malware Threat Assessment is a turnkey service for the identification, triage, ongoing monitoring and program development targeting the malware threat that is prolific in enterprise environments. Picking up where traditional enterprise AV solutions leave off, the service leverages a comprehensive and combined approach using network detection, communication channel monitoring and analysis, targeted fingerprinting, DNS, reverse engineering and custom scripting to identify, target, analyze and mitigate the advanced persistent threat within Accuvant's clients' environments. From both a technology and day-to-day process perspective, the Accuvant LABS team implements a methodology that causes minimal impact on clients' daily operations or production systems availability.
Accuvant has named malware expert Jeff Horne as practice manager of malware solutions, where he is responsible for delivering world-class services focused on malware identification, analysis and incident response. Horne is rapidly growing his team of talented malware researchers and reverse engineers to keep up with increasing market demand. Horne brings more than 13 years of experience in reverse engineering, vulnerability assessment, anti-virus engine creation, and malware experience to the company. His previous security consulting and engineering experience includes a variety of roles as both a researcher and software engineer at other major security organizations.
