Inaugural Abundance Leadership training program features Win Smith, President of Sugarbush Resort, and John Egan, Adventure Skier
The Abundance Leadership training program for top-level decision-makers uses breakthrough research that links specific leadership behaviors with improved business results. Drawing on the research and experiences of its program leaders, "Abundance Leadership" launches September 26-29 at Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont.
"Our research revealed that certain key characteristics of the best leaders drive optimal business performance," said Anthony Panos, president of Performance Training, Inc., a principal of Organizational Design and Development Associates, and one of the program leaders. "In today's economy, it's not enough to possess business knowledge and leadership skills. While there are many leadership training programs out there, ours goes further to reveal the crucial characteristics of 'abundance leaders'."
Abundance leaders are supportive in surmounting obstacles, build commitment and enthusiasm company-wide, and see the possibilities in all situations. These characteristics have been found to significantly correlate with organizational "health" – a key factor in business success. Our survey tool evaluates participants on a range of characteristics, comparing their results to benchmark data collected from hundreds of top-level executives to identify their leadership strengths and weaknesses.
"Helping leaders realize the full potential of their organizations is what this program is all about," said Laura Freebairn-Smith, principal of ODDA, who conducted the research. Freebairn-Smith, Panos, and Tom Horvath, senior associate with PTI, will provide expert training and coaching. John Egan, an experienced mountaineer and pioneer of extreme skiing, will share his story of a harrowing 1990 attempt to summit Mt. Elbrus, when he assumed the lead after failed leadership resulted in a tragic outcome. Special guest speaker Winthrop H. Smith, Jr., president of Sugarbush Resort and former president of Merrill Lynch International, will share the principles-based leadership philosophy he learned from his father, one of the founding partners of Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith.
Abundance Leadership participants include CEOs, vice presidents and directors from public and private companies, nonprofit and governmental organizations across industries. Three sessions will be offered: September 26-29, 2011, January 30 – February 2, 2012, and April 2-5, 2012. This program is a partnership of Performance Training, Inc., and Organizational Design and Development Associates (ODDA).
