
Workers from around the world will gather to discuss emerging issues in the meatpacking and food processing industries
The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) and the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Associations (IUF) will host meat industry workers from around the world at the Global Meat Conference at the Doubletree Hotel in Omaha on November 1-2.
The conference will be the first U.S.-based gathering of this global meat and food union network. Participants will discuss emerging issues in the meat industry and the impact on workers in the 15 different countries represented by the unions in the IUF.
UFCW International President Joseph Hansen, who is a member of President Obama's Jobs and Competitiveness Council, and UFCW International Vice President and Director of the Food Processing, Packing and Manufacturing Division Mark Lauritsen will be available to speak to the pressabout issues affecting workers in the meat packing and retail industries in Nebraska and across the country on Tuesday, November 1.
