Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) announced today that Luther Peters has been named Vice President – Internal Audit.
"Luther's approach to monitoring and assessing the Company's control environment, his listening and communications skills, along with his global outlook and his strong leadership capabilities has taken the Internal Audit function to a new level of capability," said Pat Ward, Cummins' Vice President – Chief Financial Officer.
"Luther has done an outstanding job managing all aspects of our global Internal Audit function," Ward added. "He has implemented a disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the risk management, control and governance processes within the Company."
The appointment is effective Nov. 16.
As Executive Director of Internal Audit, Peters has been reporting Cummins' Internal Audit activity to both the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and Executive Management for the past five years, and advises both groups in many key areas of the business.
Peters joined the Company in 2004 as the Director of Global IT Audit. Prior to joining Cummins, he worked at Ernst & Young LLP, in Indianapolis, Ind. and for Deloitte & Touche LLP, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
