LONDON -- (Marketwire) -- 11/21/11 -- Vodafone mHealth Solutions recently created a LinkedIn Group for healthcare professionals to discuss the latest news on the emerging market for mobile health technologies and also the international healthcare sector. Initial discussions have focused on patient care in remote areas and the biggest hurdles to the adoption of mobile healthcare.
In parallel to the creation of the group, the mobile healthcare initiative has also recently published an Insights Guide that explores one of these barriers to adoption in more depth. The guide, titled 'Evaluating mHealth Adoption Barriers: Human Behaviour', focuses on different aspects of the impact of human behaviour on the uptake of new technology in health.
The guide considers the challenges facing healthcare professionals, behaviour towards marketed mHealth Services, to health psychology, and the science of behaviour. Results from the guide show a genuine interest in using mobile technology to improve patient care and increase efficiencies, but that real concerns exist around reliability, cost and ease of use. However, the mHealth market is still young and the opportunity for technology driven healthcare is thriving.
The guide has been produced in conjunction with a number of industry experts, including Dr Tim Jones from Future Agenda, Stephen Johnston of Fordcastle LLC, Fonny Schenck from Across, and Dr Juliet Bedford of Anthrologica.
Axel Nemetz, Head of Vodafone mHealth Solutions, said, "We've created this guide with help from independent experts whose views we respect and I believe they have important things to say that should be of interest to anyone concerned with the long-term future of the healthcare industry."
The Health Debate LinkedIn Group and the Insights Guide forms part of Vodafone's continuing commitment to thought leadership in healthcare. The Vodafone Health Debate series brings together senior pharma, public and private health stakeholders to learn, share and debate on issues and new thinking brought forward by renowned thought leaders and industry experts.
Nemetz continued, "We hope the Insights Guide can offer you some insights that will provide the impetus to generate positive change. It is the first of a series and we look forward to hearing your response to our ideas in the months to come."
