Purpose Built Communities is an Atlanta-based consulting firm formed in 2009 that helps local leaders plan, implement and sustain neighborhood revitalizations using our framework based on the East Lake community in Atlanta.
We connect communities implementing this work through the Purpose Built Communities Network. Those organizations we support directly are called Network Members. Our services are provided at no cost.
Our intent is to foster a network of up to 25 large-scale comprehensive redevelopment initiatives across the US by 2015, based on the Purpose Built Framework. This network will encompass more than 20,000 mixed-income housing units and high-performing schools for approximately 15,000 students.
Purpose Built has partnered with non-profit organizations to lead comprehensive redevelopment initiatives in 8 communities: Atlanta, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Birmingham, Rome, Clarkston, Spartanburg and Omaha. We have initiated exploratory projects in 20 additional communities.
