TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - Japan is on Friday scheduled to release consumer price index data for December, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic news.
Overall national CPI is expected to hold steady at -0.2 percent, while core CPI is expected to slip to -0.2 percent from -0.1 percent.
Also, the Bank of Japan will release the minutes from its monetary policy meeting on December 19, when it increased the size of the asset purchase program by JPY 10 trillion. At the same time, the near-zero interest rate was unchanged.
Singapore will provide December numbers for industrial production, with forecasts suggesting a contraction of 2.9 percent on month and 8.2 percent on year. That follows the 1.9 percent monthly gains and the 3.1 percent annual increase in November.
