PEKING (dpa-AFX) - Ctrip.com International Ltd. (CTRP), a travel service provider of hotel accommodations, airline tickets, packaged tours and corporate travel management in China, reported that its fourth-quarter net income attributable to shareholders was RMB 192.55 million or US$30.91 million, down from RMB 252.52 million in the year ago quarter.
Earnings per ADS for the quarter were RMB1.38 or US$0.22 for the fourth quarter, compared to RMB 1.67 last year.
Excluding share-based compensation charges, earnings per ADS were RMB2.17 or US$0.35 for the fourth quarter of 2012. Excluding share-based compensation charges, net income attributable to shareholders was RMB306 million or US$49 million, representing a decrease of 12% from the same period in 2011.
Total revenues for the quarter were RMB1.17 billion or US$187 million, representing an 18% increase from the same period in 2011. Net revenues for the quarter were RMB1.1 billion or US$177 million, representing a 19% increase from the same period in 2011.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of US$0.11 per share on revenues of US$174.27 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Air ticket booking revenues for the fourth quarter of 2012 were RMB447 million or US$72 million, representing an 18% increase year-on-year, primarily driven by an increase in air tickets sales volume.
For the first quarter of 2013, the company expects to continue the net revenue growth year-on-year at a rate of approximately 15%-20%. Analysts expect the company to report revenues of US$171.63 million for the first-quarter.
