
OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/07/13 -- Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will stay at the Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Quebec, from February 9 to 14, 2013.
Their Excellencies will take part in outdoor activities during the Quebec Winter Carnival. To encourage and support organizations that improve people's well-being through their activities or research, Their Excellencies will visit the Institut universitaire en sante mentale de Quebec and the Le Pavois organization. They will meet with elementary school students, who will tell Their Excellencies about their interests in art and technology. Finally, Their Excellencies will have a discussion with Quebeckers who place great importance on philanthropy, and attend a game at the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, at which the Governor General will perform the ceremonial puck drop.
"It always gives Sharon and me great pleasure to visit the beautiful City of Quebec, especially when the Winter Carnival is underway," said his Excellency. "We will take advantage of our time in the city to meet with researchers, philanthropists, students and young athletes who, among others, will tell us about the subjects that matter to them."

Saturday, February 9 City of Quebec, Quebec 9:30 a.m. Calgary Stampede Flapjack Breakfast (Quebec Winter Carnival) The Governor General and Mrs. Johnston will meet volunteers and then put on aprons to help serve some of the 3 000 free flapjack breakfasts provided by the City of Calgary delegation. It provides adults with quality, specialized care and services that focus on their recovery, social integration and quality of life. Researchers from the institute will provide Their Excellencies with an overview of their research, especially in sexology and high-tech areas like neurophotonics. During this same event, Their Excellencies will visit the Superior Court of Quebec facilities, which are next to the institute, and the Vincent et moi gallery. The Governor General and Mrs. Johnston will also attend musical performances by students in other schools from the Central Quebec School Board participating in the ArtsSmarts program.
