CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - South Korea is on Wednesday scheduled to release unemployment data for January, highlighting a light day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. The unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 3.0 percent.
Japan will see December results for its tertiary industry index, plus January figures for domestic corporate goods prices. Tertiary industry is expected to have risen 0.7 percent on month after falling 0.3 percent in November. Corporate goods prices are called higher by 0.2 percent on month and lower by 0.3 percent on year after adding 0.3 percent on month and falling 0.6 percent on year in December.
Australia will see February data for the Westpac consumer confidence index; in January, it was up 0.6 percent to a score of 100.6.
Finally, some of the regional bourses remain closed for the Lunar New Year holiday, including Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. Hong Kong is back on Thursday and China and Taiwan are off until next Monday.
