WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Coal company Cloud Peak Energy Inc. (CLD) reported fourth-quarter net income of $28.2 million or $0.46 per share, compared to $43.8 million or $0.72 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings per share for the quarter declined to $0.54 from $0.70 in the year-ago quarter. On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.50 per share for the fourth quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues for the quarter rose to $374.83 million from $402.49 million a year ago, while ten analysts expected revenue of $404.25 million for the quarter.
