Rep. Fattah Salutes Patience Lehrman and Harris Wofford Upon Winning Presidential Citizens Medal

Finanznachrichten News

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA-02) congratulates two winners with strong Philadelphia connections who will receive the 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal, the nation's second-highest civilian honor, from President Obama at White House ceremonies on Friday, February 15:

"Patience Lehrman, an immigrant from Cameroon, has done outstanding work among immigrant Philadelphians, especially those from Africa, as National Director of Project SHINE (Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders) based at Temple University. She has smoothed the path for young and old, and added immensely to the rich diversity of our community," Fattah said.

"My friend Harris Wofford, who for many years was based in Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr, needs no introduction for his lifetime of work as the indispensable advocate for national service and volunteering through the Peace Corps, Americorps the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, and much more," the Congressman said.

"Ms. Lehrman and Senator Wofford are two of just a dozen worthy Americans who will meet with President Obama and receive this important medal. They are living examples of the all-American values of giving-back, generosity of spirit and selfless service," Fattah said. "Patience Lehrman and Harris Wofford exemplify our hometown as truly the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. Congratulations to them and to all of the Citizens Medal winners - and especially: Thank you. Thank you."
