TORONTO, March 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - "The beauty is in the flaws," says NY-based artist, Joshua Davis, of his upcoming exhibit. Comprised of 25 hand-drawn compositions, each original 24x60" piece is based on the artist's algorithimic patterns and digital illustrations.

The fine art exhibition is set to take place at one of Toronto'sarchitectural treasures, Hotel Ocho (195 Spadina Avenue) - at 7:00 P.M.on April 19th 2013.
Curated by Clay Rochemont in concert with SPOKE, the combined forces embark as fans of Davis's foundational and continually evolving work in the art and design scene.
Davis writes an artwork agnostic system through code that creates a naturalistic situation for mapping. He illustrates singular assets arranged into banks of drawings organized by theme, and then moves the assets into the developed program, which produces a seemingly random composition based on a structure for creating pattern. Davis then enters a phase he describes as, "becoming the critic," and chooses from infinite possibilities to select 40 villains for the ink drawings. To complete The Forty Thieves, the artist freehand draws and inks to create the final piece.
In Part I, 20 pieces plus five hand-inked skateboards will be shown in Toronto this April; a subsequent U.S. exhibition to showcase the balance of the collection is currently scheduled for later this year - as Part II in Los Angeles, California.
On April 19th in Toronto, a special Buyer Preview for The Forty Thieves by Joshua Davis commences at 6:00 P.M.; available by-invitation via pr@spokeagency.com only. The public opening and sale commences at 7:00 P.M., with artwork for sale in-person at the exhibition and also online at www.thefortythieves.ca to worldwide buyers. This is a 19+ public event with no cover charge; this exclusive show runs through June 19 2013 at Hotel Ocho.
