KOHLER, Wis., April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TheHorse & PlowatThe American Clubresort inKohler, Wisconsin reopens with an inspired new look, refreshed menu and renewed energy. The historic tap room has been closed for two months while the team worked quickly to have renovations complete for the spring season.
The Horse & Plow features an adjusted layout - with more separation between the bar and restaurant areas - as well as a new lower-level lounge with cozy furniture, televisions and a brand new fireplace. The bar has been expanded to accommodate more guests, as well as more draft beer lines. Connoisseurs can enjoy 19 American and Imported brews and one root beer on tap.
"The updates have created a fun and energized new look," explained Loren Rue, Chef and Restaurant Manager - Horse & Plow. "The mood speaks to the history of the venue-as a place for friendship and camaraderie-but with a fresh atmosphere, food and drink."
The Horse & Plow has a special historic story at the resort as it was originally a bowling alley for the immigrant workers that lived in The American Club in the early part of the 20th century. Today, the hardwood floors that once lined the bowling alley have been used to create the tables in the Horse & Plow. New decor items include lighting - some on pulley systems above the bar - and earth tones throughout the bar to create a casual, warm environment to enjoy with friends and family.
The menu at Horse & Plow has also been revamped with new dishes such as Chorizo Stuffed Potato Skins, Bourbon Apple Chicken Panini and Mustard Crusted Pork Loin. Serving more than two tons of cheese curds a year, the popular cheese curds and beer cheese soup are perennial favorites and will certainly be back on the menu.
"We've taken this opportunity to really refine our dishes," said Rue. "The favorites aren't changing flavor, but the presentation is new and we've incorporated some new products, so guests get a better meal experience."
The Horse & Plow will celebrate its reopening on Saturday, April 6, with food and drink specials, a DJ and a lot of fanfare.
