VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/05/13 -- The Education Division of the Eminata Group, the largest provider of private post-secondary education in Canada, and the Taishan City Education Bureau in Guangdong province, People's Republic of China, signed a cooperative agreement to establish an international K-12 program. The Xinning International Education Program will be delivered in collaboration with Xinning Middle School, one of the leading middle schools in China. This collaboration will provide an innovative educational platform that will facilitate placement at Western universities.
Starting in September 2013, an inaugural group of Chinese Grade 7 students will receive a program of studies that will deliver the government-approved Chinese course content in conjunction with an English language curriculum. This model will extend through Grade 12, allowing program graduates to meet or exceed North American English language competency requirements.
The Xinning International Education Program will provide a bilingual learning environment with the proportion of English-instructed subjects increasing in each subsequent grade. North American-trained faculty will teach a variety of subjects in addition to English, and will provide extra-curricular English language enrichment. Chinese faculty will teach the required state Chinese curriculum.
The official signing ceremony was recently held at the Xinning Middle School campus in Taishan City. Dr. Bohdan J. Bilan, VP of Academics and Regulatory Affairs for the Eminata Group and Principal Yaozhi Wu of Xinning Middle School were signatories to the agreement. Official witnesses were Dr. Peter Chung, Chairman of the Eminata Group, Ms. Susanna Huang, Standing Committee Member of the Taishan Communist Party, Mr. Guozhong Huang, Vice-Mayor of Taishan City, and Dr. Arthur Coren, President of University of Canada West. Attendees included numerous dignitaries from the Taishan government as well as principals from the region's schools.
